It is never easy to tell your significant other that when you go on holiday to Phuket with your family and kids that you want to escape for a few hours here and there to play golf. A Phuket family golf holiday is something really special, and with so many things to see and do for the family when you are not golfing, no doubt you will get a pass to play.
Let us help you to convince your better half about the plus factors to a Phuket family holiday, and that this vacation could be the most memorable of all time. Please take your time to read the ultimate Phuket family golf holiday article so you can fully understand why holidaying and playing golf in Phuket should be your first choice this year.
Phuket Has Something for Everyone
You are sitting there in front of your computer trying to find a holiday destination that has golf courses so you can not only ensure your family has a great time, but you can also play a few rounds of golf at the same time. Phuket Island really does take some beating!
Phuket really does have something for everyone. Beaches, bars, temples, international shopping centers, zoos, aquariums, top-notch restaurants and anything else you can imagine…. Phuket has it all! All the above-mentioned things are the perfect counter-balance so you can get away for a few rounds of golf without causing any conflict or feeling guilty that you are neglecting your loved ones.
Beautiful Phuket Tropical Climate
Let’s be honest here, Phuket’s sub-tropical location and all-year-round high temperatures, alongside its natural beauty of course, is one of the main reasons why the island is so popular with holidaymakers from across the planet. If Phuket was an island in the middle of Antarctica, we probably wouldn’t come here for a vacation, although the stunning Thai culture and hospitality is also a big factor in its popularity. While your family are basking in the endless sunrays, absorbing that big fiery ball’s life-giving properties, you can imagine just how amazing it is going to be when you get to tear up the fairways on some of SE-Asia’s finest golf courses.
Phuket Family Attractions
Over the past decade, Phuket, and Thailand in general, has stepped away from its reputation as a party capital, or a backpacker’s paradise, and really has moved into the modern family-orientated holiday universe. Phuket is now awash with family-style attractions, which really will keep your family and kids in that ‘happy’ place, while you dream about holing 6ft clutch-putts for par.
Some of the most famous and popular family attractions in Phuket include the Splash Jungle Water Park, Phuket Zoo, Phuket Aquarium, Surf-House Phuket, Dino Park Mini-Golf (you can have the best of both worlds here), The Kids Club at Jungceylon Shopping Center in Patong, the Mid-Air Circus Arts Academy, Rawai Park, Patong Go-Kart Speedway and many more.
There are so many things to do for families in modern Phuket, which plays perfectly into your hands when suggesting the island as this year’s holiday destination. Here is a more in-depth look into some of Phuket’s best and most famous family holiday attractions:
Phuket Family Attraction: Splash Jungle Water Park
Over the years, Phuket has become a desirable holiday destination for families with lots of Phuket family attractions. One of the most popular is the Splash Jungle Water Park, located at Mai Khao on the northern-western coast of the island and known for its high-octane water slides and as an action packed day of fun.
The Splash Jungle Water Park offers visitors and locals in Phuket a way to beat the heat and have some water-soaked fun without going to the beach. Compared to the ocean Splash Jungle is a much more controlled environment, perfect for families with little kids or really anyone who just wants to have a good time.
One of the most refreshing things about Splash Jungle Water Park, besides the cool water, is the fact that it is so well run. Indeed, in some other parts of the world water parks are basically synonymous with long lines, surly staff and filthy water. Splash Jungle Water Park thankfully is free from all of these concerns. Because the weather and tourist flow is quite similar year round, Splash Jungle never has to worry about a “summer rush” the way water parks in other places might. The result is that lines at Splash Jungle are rarely more than a few people long, and guests can spend their time enjoying themselves and riding the rides instead of endlessly waiting while baking in the sun.
Getting to Splash Jungle Water Park is easy enough, as they are happy to arrange a transfer to and from your hotel or guesthouse (for a fee). This service is fast and professional, and probably the best way to get to the park. If one wants to set out on their own, using a taxi or tuk-tuk shouldn’t be too much trouble as most drivers will know of this place. There is good food available as well, both Thai and international. Open from 10 am until 6 pm, it is recommended to get to Splash Jungle early for maximum fun!

Phuket Fantasea Theme Park
Phuket Fantasea has been the most popular family attraction and theme park in Phuket for many eons. Located in the heart of Kamala on 140-acres of land, this fantastic theme park showcases Thailand’s heritage, cultural roots and traditions. The park is home to a large theater decorated like an ancient temple, a carnival village with lots of games and shops and a 4,000 seat themed restaurant serving a grand buffet with Thai and international cuisine.
The Las Vegas-like theatrical shows use the latest state of the art lighting and sound technology to tell the story of Thailand’s myths, mysteries and history. If you are a family, this is a great night of wholesome entertainment.

When it comes to wildlife options, Phuket Zoo in Chalong is a great place for the family, however, Phuket Aquarium, located at Cape Panwa, really is a top attraction in Phuket. Phuket Aquarium is not only a great place to see a vast choice of marine life, but is also an ideal place to learn a thing or two. There are over 30 tanks of freshwater and saltwater creatures such as cuttlefish, razorfish, stonefish, eels, crab, shrimps, sharks, and many varieties of tropical and multicolored fish.

Nobody does beaches like Phuket, and you know how much kids love the sand and sea. If you are staying in a beachside area (which most people do), pack the wife and kids off to the beach for a few hours. There are lots of watersports and also many food vendors and stalls along the beaches, which means they will never be short of food or things to do.
The most commercial beaches along the West coast are Patong Beach, Karon Beach, Kata Beach and Kamala Beach. If you are looking to find some of the best beaches on the island, we would recommend that you visit Nai Harn Beach in the south or Nai Yang Beach in the north near to Blue Canyon Country Club.
Here is a more in-depth look at two of the most popular Phuket beaches that would suit a Phuket family golf holiday:
Located a 25-minute drive south of Patong, Kata Beach merges that special Phuket tropical environment with a commercial edge. This stunning stretch of sand is known for its water sports, especially surfing between the months of May and October. The best thing about Kata Beach is that it is not only a beautiful place to relax, but also a short distance to all manner of bars and restaurants. Kata can be quite a hive of activity, but is more suited to families than Patong.
Nai Harn Beach
Although Phuket has some well-hidden and secluded beaches, the one that is always mentioned as being the most beautiful is Nai Harn Beach. Situated in a quiet cove on the south-western coastline, Nai Harn Beach enjoys jaw-dropping beauty, while being within close proximity to bars and restaurants. Just over the road from the beach, you will find Nai Harn Lake, which is a purpose-built stretch of water, surrounded by a beautiful park area with a children’s playground. Lots of locals with their families visit Nai Harn beach and park on Sunday afternoons, making it the perfect place to take your kids.
Phuket has some excellent international-style shopping centers, and nothing kills a few hours like a shopping spree. The two most prominent shopping centers that are geared to tourists are the Jungceylon Shopping Mall in Patong and Central Festival on the way to Phuket Town. There you will find food courts, restaurants, kid’s play areas, cinemas and brand name fashion items.

If you are looking for something a bit different, we would suggest that you visit the Weekend Night Market on the outskirts of Phuket Town every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night where you will find some cool bargains.
Lots of Amazing Phuket Golf Courses
We finally got here, even though we did through the back door. With so many great things to see and do in Phuket, let’s not forget you came here to not only have a good time with your family, but also to play a few rounds of golf.
Phuket really is a golfer’s paradise, and after you have given so much time to ensure your family reaches the ultimate state of happiness and enjoyment, you could mention to your partner that Phuket has some of the best golf courses in the world. They will be happy to let you play golf for a few hours, so it’s important that you know the best Phuket courses to play.
One of the first things to talk about is having access to golf clubs. No doubt you left your clubs at home because it is near on impossible to carry clubs onto an airplane when you are travelling with your significant other and your kids. You can hire golf clubs from all Phuket’s golf courses, so there is no problem there.
In terms of recommended courses, it all depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a real challenge, we would highly recommend Phuket golf courses such as Red Mountain Golf Club or The Canyon Course at Blue Canyon Country Club. However, if you are looking for somewhere that is more value for money or less challenging, we would suggest courses such as Loch Palm, Phuket Country Club, Mission Hills Phuket or Laguna Phuket Golf Club.
Loch Palm and Phuket Country Club are more seen as golfer-friendly courses both in terms of the playing conditions, forgiving layouts, affordable green fees and friendly onsite staff. These two courses are where the vast majority of Phuket expats place because of the exceptional value for money.
If you are looking for a bit of something different and want to get away from Phuket for a few hours, we would recommend playing at the stunning Katathong Golf Resort in Phang Nga, which is a real experience.
The Phuket golf holiday scene has something for everyone from Championship style course to those that are more forgiving. Please click here to see a full list of Phuket golf courses with prices, photos and descriptions.
